Iniciación al Liderazgo Comunitario en niños del Barrio San José de la comunidad de Puerto Hondo

Abstract

This systematization of experience focuses on the community service practices carried out in the San José neighborhood of Puerto Hondo. It will analyze whether the sessions held met the objective of empowering the children of the San José neighborhood in community leadership, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the experiences of the practices conducto in the area, identifying the successes and shortcomings of the sessions, and thereby improving the aspects in which they fell short and guiding future interventions in similar contexts. The first three sessions held after the community diagnosis were analyzed, collecting information thru field journals to process and organize the data obtained into daily logs and activity records. It was concluded that the sessions did not meet the objective of empowering the children of the San José neighborhood, as they do not influence decision-making for community development and instead veered more toward community leadership training. Limitations were also identified that hindered the implementation of additional sessions due to time constraints resulting from insecurity in the area; consequently, only three sessions were held in total because the initial teams lacked time management and exceeded their allotted time. For future interventions, it is recommended to work with children, as they will be the ones to lead the progress of their communities, and to appoint delegates to monitor the time teams spend to prevent them from exceeding the allotted time.
