Un Indígena en la Ciudad. Trayectorias y configuraciones de la subjetividad urbana contemporánea

Abstract

This study analyzes the trajectories and contemporary configurations of Indigenous subjectivity in the city, based on the autoethnography of a single subject whose experiences unfold across various urban contexts in Ecuador. At present, the subjectivity and identity of Indigenous populations born in the city respond to a complex intertwining of cultural origins and heritage, class position, specific sociocultural experiences, and the country’s sociopolitical history. These intersections shape an Indigenous subjectivity that both reproduces and transforms inherited identities, opening up the possibility for the production of new ways of understanding and experiencing Indigeneity as a space open to history and politics.
