Análisis de las causas del desempleo y su impacto en la calidad de vida de los residentes de Guayaquil en el año 2023

Abstract

Unemployment is a phenomenon that profoundly impacts the quality of life of the inhabitants of Guayaquil, particularly in an adverse economic context of growing insecurity. This study justifies its importance by addressing the need to understand how lack of employment affects various aspects of daily life, including health, education, and social stability. The objective of the research is to analyze the causes of unemployment and its impact on the quality of life of Guayaquil residents in the year 2023. A mixed methodology was adopted, combining a quantitative approach, through structured surveys, with qualitative interviews with various social actors. The research design is non-experimental, descriptive in scope, which allowed for a detailed analysis of the factors contributing to unemployment and its consequences. The main results indicate that the causes of unemployment in Guayaquil are related to the lack of investment, insecurity, and a mismatch between the educational offer and the demands of the labor market. Also, unemployment and the perception of insecurity are the most influential factors in the perception of quality of life. These factors not only limit access to formal jobs, but also deteriorate the quality of life, increasing poverty and social disintegration. The findings suggest the need for more effective public policies, including improving education and creating a more secure and attractive economic environment for investment, as ways to reduce unemployment and improve the quality of life in the city.
