| Abstract: | The article focuses on the problem of the lack of wireless communications coverage in rural areas. To solve this problem, it is proposed to implement a prototype of the TV White Spaces communication system as a WiFi hotspot backhaul using the USRP-2944R. The article describes the configuration of the equipment both in hardware and software and its implementation, which was used to transmit and receive signals through a tone in the TV White Spaces (620 MHz) and WIFI (2.4 GHz) bands. The results show the feasibility of using this equipment to improve coverage and exploit the frequency bands in the analog blackout in Ecuador. |
| Translated abstract: | El artículo se enfoca en el problema de la falta de cobertura de comunicaciones inalámbricas en las zonas rurales. Para resolver este problema, se propone implementar un prototipo del sistema de comunicación TV White Spaces como backhaul de un hotspot WiFi utilizando el USRP-2944R. El artículo describe la configuración de los equipos tanto en el hardware como el software y su implementación, la cual se utilizó para transmitir y recibir señales a través de un tono en las bandas de TV White Spaces (620 MHz) y de WIFI (2.4 GHz). Los resultados muestran la factibilidad de usar estos equipos para mejorar la cobertura y explotar las bandas de frecuencia en el apagón analógico en el Ecuador. |
