Abstract

Over the years the Afro-Ecuadorian community has become a symbol of culture in Ecuador for its different traditions, customs and above all its history of fighting racism and acceptance in society. The majority of Afro-Ecuadorians live in Esmeraldas but with the migration they have been distributed throughout the country, being Guayaquil the city mainly recurred and of which many have established their home. One of the sectors of Guayaquil where they have been accentuated for years has been the Trinitarian Island, which in spite of being denominated one of the most dangerous zones of the city, the amount of people who arrive to establish of this place their domicile, are innumerable. Approximately 60% of its inhabitants are Afro-Ecuadorians who have migrated to the city in search of a better future with their families or have formed over the years in the same place.
