Abstract

The next research has as goal make evident, through a photographic essay the different traditional and contemporaneous occupations in Quito´s Historical Downtown, for this the fundamental process that the investigation relied on was the documentation of photographic files that permit to visualize the traditional occupations of the city strengthening our cultural identity. The communicative product will be important in order to analyze and comprehend how the occupations have been developed and keep being active nowadays, for that reason it is necessary that they are recognized and revalued. This not only involves the material wealth but also the in material one, made up by people that still conserve this occupations to preserve the culture of Quito society. Show which were the trades that are still current and show up the identity of Quito, saving and putting on stage the valualable of this activities through this photographic essay, the importance that the historical memory has in the people’s life and how this affect in the developed of its identity considering the historic context about the trades in Quito that straight to survive in a industrialized city. This photographic essay will be useful to society of Quito recognize how were its city trades, how through the years have been changing and bringing up to date, contrasting a landmark and population development in Quito, Achieving that people are transported in time recalling those social and cultural processes characteristic of the city.
