Abstract

The research aims to know the performance of professionals in the branch of Industrial Engineering in Ecuador, the areas of development and the positions that these professionals occupy in different sectors of the industry. For this research, three areas of development were determined for the industrial engineer, such as the analysis and design of operations, control of operations and administrative management. For the present investigative work, a probabilistic sampling method was carried out taking a finite population of 39,562 Industrial Engineers and as a result of the calculation a sample of 367 Industrial Engineers was obtained between men and women. Subsequently, a statistical analysis was performed to know the roles that industrial engineers are playing. It was possible to appreciate the great importance that the industrial engineer has within the different types of companies and that also can fulfill several roles in them. Finally, the general criterion that takes greater relevance is the adaptive capacity of the industrial expert to the different challenges involved in a work activity, as they put all their ability to execute it in a correct manner.
