Anteproyecto arquitectónico de un equipamiento multifuncional para la preservación del patrimonio cultural inmaterial asociado al tejido en paja toquilla en el cantón Sígsig, provincia del Azuay

Abstract

This work consists of the development of a preliminary architectural design for a multifunctional facility aimed at the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage associated with Toquilla straw weaving in Sígsig Canton, Azuay Province. Based on the analysis of the territory, productive dynamics, and the current conditions of the trade, the proposal seeks to strengthen the social and economic fabric of the artisans. It integrates an urban diagnosis and the review of architectural precedents, processes that allowed identifying the spatial needs linked to production, training, exhibition, and commercialization. Based on these criteria, the design defines a space that articulates local identity, sustainability, and a gender approach, proposing environments that promote community gathering and the artisanal economy. As a result, a concrete spatial proposal is delivered that evidences the role of architecture in the valorization of ancestral knowledge and the productive reactivation of the sector.
