Evaluación del pavimento asfáltico mediante pci en la vía 16 de julio de la comuna Palmar, cantón Santa Elena

Abstract

This analysis was based on a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the flexible pavement on 16 de Julio Street in the Palmar commune of the Santa Elena canton. The objective was to implement the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) method and create a technical diagnosis that will serve as the basis for future conservation and rehabilitation actions. The protocol involved systematic visual identification of defects, categorization of defects based on their type and severity, and calculation of the PCI index per sampling unit following the methodology specified by ASTM D6433. Based on the results achieved, different technical exploitation strategies were designed depending on the degree of deterioration, promoting corrective actions in critical areas and preventive actions where initial damage occurred.
