Niños trabajadores en Ecuador: Prevención y análisis sobre el marco legal internacional

Abstract

Child labor remains a global issue affecting millions of children, depriving them of fundamental rights such as education, play, and a safe, healthy life. Despite advancements in human rights, eradicating child labor continues to face significant challenges. This article examines the fight against child labor through the development, implementation, and evolution of legal frameworks at both international and national levels. It highlights how legal regulations aim to protect children from labor exploitation and ensure an environment conducive to their growth and well-being. The article first explores key international treaties, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions, particularly Convention 138 on minimum working age and Convention 182 on the worst forms of child labor. These international instruments establish basic standards for countries, obliging them to adopt legal and administrative measures to prohibit and eliminate all forms of child labor. National legal frameworks also play a critical role in combating child labor. States are required to align their internal laws with international standards to protect children. However, challenges such as lack of resources, corruption, and cultural differences often hinder the effective enforcement of these laws.
