Análisis de importación de telas sostenibles y sus efectos en el mercado textil de Guayaquil

Abstract

This research analyzes the importation of sustainable fabrics and their impact on the textile market in Guayaquil, using a qualitative, comparative and descriptive approach. Interviews were conducted with four companies in the sector (Reimpconex, Cortina’s Christian, Canguro Pacífico and Standard Fabric) to evaluate the trends, challenges and opportunities of these materials. It was identified that the growth of fabrics such as bamboo and hemp has been slow due to high costs and lack of information. In addition, although sustainable fabrics have similar quality and durability to conventional fabrics, they face greater obstacles in obtaining certifications such as the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). In economic terms, the main challenges include high prices, delivery times, lack of stock and minimum purchases. It is recommended that marketing be strengthened through strategies such as increased advertising, counseling and color diversification. The research is based on Guayaquil's textile sector, which has 119 SMEs registered with the National Finance Corporation, and focuses on importers with experience in marketing sustainable fabrics, highlighting their capacity for innovation and adaptation to social and environmental responsibility trends.
