| Abstract: | The article examines the evolution and challenges of passive optical networks (PON) due to the increase in the number of connected devices and the growing demand for bandwidth. It highlights the need to upgrade technology standards such as GPON and 5G to improve efficiency, performance and security. It also highlights the implementation of advanced technologies such as XG-PON and 25G-PON to meet the growing demand for bandwidth. Additionally, it addresses the importance of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), software-Defined Networking (SDN) integration, and virtualization techniques to optimize the management and operation of PON networks. |
| Translated abstract: | El artículo examina la evolución y los retos de las redes ópticas pasivas (PON) debido al incremento en la cantidad de dispositivos conectados y la demanda creciente de ancho de banda. Se subraya la necesidad de actualizar estándares tecnológicos como GPON y 5G para mejorar la capacidad, la rentabilidad y la seguridad. Asi mismo, se destaca la implementación de tecnologías avanzadas como XG-PON y 25G-PON para cumplir con la creciente demanda de ancho de banda. Además, se aborda la importancia de la multiplexación por división de longitud de onda (WDM), la integración de SDN, técnicas de virtualización para optimizar la gestión y operación de las redes PON. |
