Resumen traducido: | The project entitled “Proposal for the implementation of atmospheric protection for a facility located in a high lightning probability area” addresses the need to protect infrastructure and people from lightning strikes, an unpredictable and destructive natural phenomenon. The overall objective was to develop a protection system using Nimbus Project Designer software for facilities in areas of high lightning incidence. The methodology focused on complying with IEC 62305 and NFPA 780 standards, using detailed analysis and simulations to design a system that meets the specific needs of the location. A thorough study of the discharge density and associated risk factors was carried out, adapting the solutions to the local and structural conditions of the facility. The main results confirmed that the implementation of the designed system, which includes Franklin type lightning rods and other components according to international standards, provides effective protection. The design was able to minimize the risks of structural and equipment damage, ensuring the integrity of the facilities and the safety of people. This implementation not only meets the technical requirements for adequate protection, but also strengthens operational safety, providing a priority investment in infrastructure planning in lightning-prone areas. Simulation with Nimbus Project Designer allowed validation of every aspect of the design, ensuring that the system works optimally and in accordance with the relevant regulations. |
