Abstract

This article presents a systematic review of the state of the art on the use of virtual and augmented reality focused on medicine. The most significant research in the last five years is evaluated, showing that the implementation of virtual and augmented reality in medicine in an area of constant evolution has a very significant potential, promising to revolutionize medical practices and health training. Virtual and augmented reality are immersive technological tools that provide highly realistic experiences and allow both the doctor and the patient to interact with medical information in an unprecedented manner. However, it has challenges and limitations such as technological accessibility and adaptability. However, the state of the art highlights the positive impact on medicine, with growing certainty supporting its efficacy and potential to improve the medical field playing a very fundamental role in the continuous evolution of the medical area.
