Expectativas de la Familia Indígena frente a la educación. Análisis de caso en la comunidad La Chimba, Parroquia Olmedo

Abstract

This research presents a case study about the educational vision of the population of the La Chimba community belonging to the Olmedo Parish, in the Cayambe canton, after for various political reasons the educational institution, which for many years served to the academic training of its inhabitants was closed, forcing students to attend another institution. This, far from representing an advantage for them, became a major problem, due to different obstacles that are detailed in this study, whose objective is to identify the expectations that indigenous families in this sector have with respect to the education their children receive. children to establish the aspirations with which they enter the educational system. For the study, qualitative and documentary research was used, since direct information had to be collected from those involved in the problem through interviews and the analysis of various documents to support the theoretical framework. With the information collected, it was determined that the people of the community feel indignation and nonconformity regarding the closure of the Medardo Ángel Silva educational institution, which represented the realization of a dream, an aspiration for which they fought for many years and that is now seen taken away and with this also, the right to education of their children. In this sense, it is considered that the research is of great importance, because it allows us to know the reality of Intercultural Bilingual Education in the community, along with the inconveniences that the population of the sector has had to face.
