Title: | Tratamiento informativo sobre esports en medios de comunicación caso: Torneo Celerity |
Authors: | Suárez-Avilés Woelke, Armando André |
Advisor: | Delgado Granizo, Cassia Olenka |
Abstract: | This The following academic work analyzes the informative treatment that eSports receive in the media, taking the Celerity Tournament as a case study. Despite the explosive growth of electronic sports worldwide, media coverage tends to be insufficient and limited. Due to this, the objective was to analyze the informative treatment by the media. Additionally, it aims to provide verified information about the informative treatment of eSports in the country. Following this, it seeks to identify strengths and weaknesses in media coverage of the event. The analysis focuses on five Ecuadorian media outlets, revealing that, in general, the information about the tournament is presented adequately and objectively. Positive aspects are highlighted, such as the support from reliable sources and favorable opinions towards eSports. Although strengths in coverage are identified, there are also weaknesses, such as news repetition in some media, which could impact the quality and value for readers. The article advocates for more specialized and meaningful coverage of eSports in the media, acknowledging that there is still room for improvement. Through qualitative analysis, a comprehensive and accurate view of how the media addresses this topic is provided. While the study has limitations due to the specific sample of news and media, its results offer a relevant perspective for future research in the field of electronic sports and their media treatment in Ecuador. |
