Abstract: This research seeks to analyze the influence of distinctive social norms of masculinities on the Emotional Intelligence of university men between 20 and 25 years old. It is intended to demonstrate the existence of a relationship between the hegemonic precepts on the meanings of being a man with the referential bases for Emotional Intelligence obtained by applying the TMMS-24 scale. The study investigates the relationship between both categories from the understanding of the ways in which universitary men express emotions, as well as its consequences through associated social problems.
Translated abstract: La presente investigación busca analizar la influencia de las normativas sociales distintivas de las masculinidades en la inteligencia emocional de hombres universitarios entre 20 y 25 años. Se pretende demostrar la existencia de una relación entre los preceptos hegemónicos sobre los significados de ser hombre con las puntuaciones referentes a Inteligencia Emocional obtenidas mediante la aplicación de la escala TMMS-24. El estudio indaga en la relación entre ambas categorías desde el entendimiento de las formas de expresión emocional presentes en hombres universitarios, así como de sus consecuencias a través de problemáticas sociales asociadas.
