Animales caninos abandonados en la Ciudad de Guayaquil

Abstract

Latin America is one of the places with problems of economy, health, crime and social issues such as the abandonment of animals in the streets, Ecuador is one of the countries involved in this problem, about 500 thousand animals are abandoned in the city of Guayaquil, according to a study conducted by the foundation "Pana". Most of the animals are sick with ticks, fractures, mange problems, among others. And although there are foundations that contribute to the reduction of this enigma, these are not enough to eradicate it, and among the sectors where this problem is evident are Bastión Popular, Mapasingue, La Prosperina, La Chala, etc. In the country there are laws and groups that support the animals by asserting their rights but in many cases the authorities ignore and mistreat them, There are very few cases that if they do not become viral by digital media would be forgotten, as one of the cases happened in 2021 where they found a cover with newborn cats thrown on electrical wires or the case of the man who stabbed an animal in early 2022, if these facts had not come to light or the authorities would not know of the event. It is a never ending problem and no matter how many foundations exist to help abandoned animals, they will not be able to help all those that exist on the streets.
