Violencias vividas por adolescentes en situación de movilidad humana en Quito

Abstract

In this research, human mobility is approached from the phenomenon of violence, analyzing the situation of Venezuelan adolescent migrants. The research is situated from the perspective of forced migration, since it is outside the life plans or projects of the adolescents and rather because it corresponds to the framework of the socio-political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. At the same time, the reproduction of violence such as bullying, sexual harassment, symbolic violence, and gender-based violence against this population by Ecuadorian citizens in the city of Quito has been observed. This mostly has negative connotations for the aforementioned population; entering into the characterization of violence, and the effects that these have on mental health and well-being, interpreting the existing meanings around it. In this framework, the urgency of studies and interventions that address psychosocial problems from theoretical-practical approaches consistent with a socio-political-cultural and ideological context becomes visible, which, in turn, makes transparent the need for a social transformation that assumes justice in its genesis in order to achieve a world where people can live in dignity.
