Racismo humorístico desde los medios digitales de entretenimiento hacia las culturas afroecuatorianas e indígenas

Abstract

This study is an investigation of racism in the ecuadorian society. The racial discrimination it’s been reproduced with hegemonic discourses through the mass media and more recently through the social media. For this purpose, a documentary has been produced, which exposes a vision about racism adapted in daily life, and the racial discrimination of indigenous and afroecuadorian cultures, who have been victims of structural racism in history. Nowadays, the Facebook social network is the web platform with the highest flow of racist and discriminatory content. Testimonies and interviews from relevant scholars and some other persons are presented, who give their observations about the digital graphic content related to racial discrimination. This investigation also exposes the new type of justified racism behind the humor. The viewer will be able to watch alternative productions which rescue the cultural essence of afrodescendant and indigenous people, all of this with artistic representations which face the current racism existing in the ecuadorian society at the present time.
