Diseño de alcantarillado combinado, estructuras de pre-tratamiento y estructuras de descarga para el barrio San Vicente de Calderón - DMQ

Abstract

The high demographic growth that the Metropolitan District of Quito has evidenced in the last years of this century, has led to the urban expansion of the majority of parishes that make up the municipality; With this, the new inhabitants of the city need to have the basic services that the municipality provides, such as: electricity, drinking water, sewage, among others. The latter is one of the most needed by the population and most requested for its solutions to social - environmental problems. Sewerage systems collect the water consumed by citizens in each of their homes, as well as the water drained by precipitation events on the roads. This collected flow is transported by a network of pipes, wells and collectors, where it is sent to sanitation plants to carry out a series of adequate chemical-physical treatment processes and finally to lead the treated flow to natural channel such as rivers or streams for its final disposition. The neighborhoods, lacking this service, tend to give inadequate management of their wastewater and the waters produced by rainfall, causing erosion on the ground level and flooding to homes. These activities cause a potential environmental impact to the ecosystem and also harm to health. The purpose of the present project under study is to carry out the design of a combined sewage network, having a wastewater pumping station that will carry the sanitary flow to an existing sewage network and a vortex-type discharge structure to evacuate the excess flow to a nearby stream for the "San Vicente de Calderón" parish of Calderón. This project will be designed under the regulations of sewerage systems of the Metropolitan Public Company of Potable Water and Sanitation (EPMAPS) and the scientific criteria of the Salesian Polytechnic University.
