Abstract

It is important to know about ancestral knowledge because it contributes to the indigenous community, the objective of this work is to contribute to the rescue of ancestral knowledge, traditions, customs, stories and legends that have been obtained from generation to generation. The study population is located in the province of Chimborazo, Riobamba canton Licto Comunidad Pompeya. For this research, the participant observation method has been considered that will allow you to visit personally and stay for a certain time together with the Pompeii community, share with them, conduct interviews, and photograph; on the other hand, the life stories methodology will be used, which will give way to more detailed knowledge of the biography of representative characters for the indigenous culture of the aforementioned community, listening to their experiences, traditions, customs, myths and legends. It was evident that in the Pompeii community, young people do not show interest in learning more about their roots, since they seek a better future in nearby cities. Older adults are those who fight day by day to preserve their ancestral traditions, customs and knowledge.
