Resumen traducido: | The material AISI 5115 is a steel used in the local environment within the automotive industry, textile, agroindustrial, among others, for the manufacture of mechanical elements such as pinions, rollers, cams, among others, which work subject to surface wear and high mechanical efforts that in turn need great tenacity in the core for better performance. It is for this reason that this type of material is treated thermally to give an increase in surface hardness, as in this case, which was designed and manufactured measuring specimens: diameter 50.8 mm, height 25.4 mm, with a beveled 0.2 mm, in which subsequently and under a design based on technical documents, the thermal treatments of cemented and nitrided were applied for exposure times of 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours. After the application of the thermal treatments, metallography and hardness tests were carried out, both in the Rockwell scale and the Vickers scale, based on the standards ASTM E1-11, NTE INEN-ISO 6508-1, ASTM E384-17, respectively, These tests were able to determine that, when carrying out the treatments, better hardness and layer thicknesses were obtained in the cemented samples comparing under the same exposure times and in a general way. |
