Memoria, historia y poder de la familia Padilla (1833-2018) en la comunidad de Wimbí, cantón San Lorenzo, provincia de Esmeraldas

Abstract

This ethnography, gives us the guide to understand the Padilla’s family role in the history of the community of Wimbi from family genealogy and the memory of its inhabitants. The contributions are analyzed with respect to the memories, histories, identity, migration, genealogy and power of the Afro-descendants, a contribution that can be understood as an attitude of service for the community good; it was used the ethnographic genealogical method, aimed at reconstructing the historical memory of the community of Wimbi. By identifying the origin and descent about the lineage of Padilla’s family, the descendants’role and leadership in social, political, religious and above all the legacy of Cayetano Padilla was evidenced with respect to culture, values and religion. When describing the degree of parentage of the Padilla family, it was obtained the family genealogical tree and the relationship with the families that live and live in this community. In this case, in the celebrations Easter, Purísima, or Christmas, the people who have migrated return to Wimbi specifically to participate in these rites, where they are integrated, involved and assume the role or mandate entrusted to them by the trustee. With this, it is emphasized that memory and identity can help us not to forget the events and moments experienced in the passage of time.
