Abstract

This academic article analyzes the narratives around the news issued by the newspaper El Comercio, regarding the events that took place on Sunday September 9, 2018 in the Quito subway depots located in Quitumbe. The information expressed by the press informs its receivers of the damage caused to a Metro car. Each note issued by the newspaper is reviewed through its content, in relation to the narratives generated by the information. In conjunction with the methodology, we have been able to interlink the data collection obtained previously, which were press releases, interviews with the people involved in this event and interviews with people who work in the newspaper El Comercio. The objective of this study was based on looking for and analyzing how a news of great importance is constructed and what is the process that carries it out. The current issue is of great public interest and can be used for future publications and interpretations of different news items issued by the newspaper "El Comercio". It also helps the community to better understand how to interpret the news. The news always brings media attention, based on events that persuasively influence the city. We find it of vital importance to analyze how news coverage and journalistic flow are made from this case in order to obtain stimulus and response results, from various theories raised in the writing.
