Revista sobre la Gentrificación del Centro de Quito como Construcción Patrimonial, una mirada crítica.

Abstract

The aim of VESTIGIOS magazine is to expose the social conflicts about gentrification processes in the Historic Center of Quito City, declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1978, from the perspectives of the characters of these processes, directly or not.

This work also seeks to show these processes from a critical perspective to the reader, focusing in the case of informal merchants, who occupied the streets of the Historic Center, who were displaced to the Savings Shopping Centers in 2003.

This investigation, seeks to develop a critical view of what happened during the modernization of the Historic Center from the perspective of the actors, through different journalistic styles, it will help to understand the scope of the conflicts, of what gentrification means for the population that interacts in the Historic Centers, as it happens in Quito city.

With the result of the information process, will be made a communication product, which will be the magazine “Vestigios”; magazine consists of three sections, context, management and stories, which include different interviews of people involved in the process of relocation of the Historical Center and its heritage.
