¿Los llaman terroristas? Unos jóvenes como tantos otros…

Abstract

Explicar el terrorismo por el Islam, no tiene fundamento; la cuestión es preguntarse ¿por qué en la actualidad, la llamada a la Guerra Santa y la perpetración de actos violentos espectaculares atraen tanto a algunos jóvenes de los sectores marginales de grandes ciudades? Para entender lo que les lleva a cometer ‘atentados terroristas’, es preciso tomar en cuenta el contexto sociocultural y político en el cual están viviendo su juventud. Se puede sospechar que nunca se han sentido plenamente aceptados en una sociedad dominante que les segrega y no reconoce los valores tradicionales de sus padres, ni tampoco de su religión. De ahí la tendencia a las transgresiones y a la delincuencia en la adolescencia como una manera de revindicar una existencia propia, lo que les abre el camino hacia la cárcel donde les esperan malos tratos y humillaciones. En estas circunstancias, el Islam radical se vuelve para ellos una propuesta de salvación que les ofrece una oportunidad para volverse héroes y por fin tener un momento de protagonismo, ser alguien, aunque sea muriendo en el acto. // Explain terrorism by Islam, doesn’t make sense; so the question is why nowadays the so called Holy War and the perpetration of violent acts are so attractive for some young people of big cities’ marginal sectors. To understand what leads them to commit ‘terrorist attacks’, its’ necessary to mention the sociocultural and politic context of their childhood. One may think that they never felt themselves fully accepted in a dominating society which segregates them and doesn’t recognize the traditional values of their fathers, nor their religion. Transgressions and delinquency during adolescence are a way for them to claim for the existence of oneself in the world. But it also leads to jail where ill treatments and humiliation expect them. In these circumstances, radical Islam offers them the opportunity to become heroes and at last be protagonist of their own life, just for one moment, even if it means to die in the action.
