Abstract

The present study focuses on the systematization of the experience oriented to the empowerment of social competencies in children between 5 and 7 years of age, who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The focus of attention is directed towards the parents of these children and is carried out in the ASENIR Education Center in Guayaquil. Methodologically, the research is based on a qualitative approach, specifically of a descriptive non-experimental nature. Data collection in the field is materialized through the technique of participant observation, framed both in interaction groups and in focal discussions, carried out in specific locations. The "Short Sensory Profile" is used to assess sensory responses and sensory regulation in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This assessment tool not only provides an objective view of the children's sensory responses, but also offers the opportunity to analyze their development and progress over time. The main focus is to adapt methods that promote the inclusion of these children in educational settings, guided by the analysis of the data collected. Autism is defined as a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts social interactions, communication and manifests in limited interests and repetitive behaviors.
