Fotoreportaje sobre la espectacularización en el consumo de la cultura coreana Hallyu en la ciudad de Quito.

Abstract

This investigation demonstrates the theoretical process of the qualitative academic research about the spectacularization in the consumption of Korean culture (hallyu) in the city of Quito. When talking about this culture it makes reference to it being a cultural phenomenon that describes consumption and popularity in the common areas like k-pop, k-dramas, gastronomy, language, etc. As a starting point, will be taken concepts about what the Korean wave is, also communication and culture, cultural hybridization, sociocultural practices will be taken, all of these are categories allow to deepening the investigation. At the same time, they will be concepts that help the process of the academic work to develop in a clear, objective and precise way. Within it, methodologies are implemented to collect the information. Ethnographic design is used because of it allows describing and analyzing the practices that happens in the face of the consumption of the culture, where the Korean culture in the city of Quito is studied as an object, in this methodology is going to be used the techniques of interviews, bibliographic review and the ethnography of communication. From all the information collected, the communicational product is going to be made, in this case the photo report. For this, it is important to build a socio-historical context about how the mass media with various korean television productions gave way to the consumption of the culture of that country here in Ecuador. The next step is to identify and analyze the areas that this korean culture brings and is responsible for providing in the city of Quito so that people become consumers of it.
