Vídeo reportaje de la adaptación de la obra literaria al cine de la película ecuatoriana “La Tigra”

Abstract

Ecuadorian cinema isn’t consolidated as a strong film industry in the region, it must be considered that most of the film classics worldwide come from literary work. For this reason, the film by Camilo Luzuriaga “La Tigra” has been taken as an example, due to its relevance and success achieved in the year of its premiere (1990), in addition to having until recently the highest grossing title in the history of Ecuadorian cinema. This story comes from the homonymous story by José de la Cuadra, who in the 1930’s together with other writers, revolutionized Ecuadorian literature. Through a comparative table, the similarities and differences between the story and the film are analyzed, along with semi-structured interviews, the story of how the author from Guayaquil came to write this famous story and how Camilo managed to capture that story on the big screen. In a few years where in Ecuador the production of his own films was scarce, all this is evidenced in the investigation and the video report. Along with the premiere of this film, another path begins for Ecuadorian cinema, which despite important advances has not yet been consolidated. To say that a literary adaptation guarantees the box office success is to affirm something unknown, this research analyzes where the real problem is and what is its possible solution so that our cinema is more profitable and known.
