Diseño arquitectónico de un centro comunitario de educación ambiental con espacios flexibles en la parroquia San Antonio de Pichincha

Abstract

This degree project presents the architectural design of a Community Environmental Education Center, conceived as a public, neighborhood-scale facility oriented toward collective learning, social interaction, and an active relationship with the natural environment. The project arises from an urban analysis of the territory, identifying structuring systems that make it possible to understand the social, spatial, and environmental dynamics of the area. The architectural proposal is based on the creation of flexible and adaptable spaces that respond to diverse educational and community activities. Spatial organization is structured through principles such as centrality, axis, and void, using a central courtyard as an articulating element that organizes circulation, enhances natural ventilation and lighting, and reinforces the relationship between built space and landscape. The project integrates environmental criteria both in its site placement and architectural configuration, establishing a direct relationship with green areas and existing public space. The use of materials such as wood, complemented by mixed structural systems, responds to cultural identity and constructive coherence with the context. The design prioritizes human scale and pedestrian accessibility, reinforcing its community-oriented and neighborhood-based character.
