Las dimensiones del desarrollo sostenible en la justicia constitucional ecuatoriana 2022-2025

Abstract

The dimensions of sustainable development have shown a global decline in terms of compliance. In Ecuador, although the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established in the 2030 Agenda are formally considered, their effective implementation is hindered by the State’s limited capacity to fulfill them. Accordingly, the main objective of this research is to evaluate the progress of each dimension of sustainable development within the Ecuadorian territory and their scope from 2022 to 2025, acknowledging that the SDGs are distributed across these dimensions. This study seeks to clarify whether the strategies adopted by the State to address each SDG are adequate, considering that they are intended to improve the population’s quality of life. The research employs a qualitative documental analysis, complemented by a descriptive examination of quantitative data drawn from official sources, in order to derive general conclusions from specific elements. The findings reveal an increase in actions for protection filed between 2022 and September 2025, in which individuals allege violations of rights connected to various dimensions of sustainable development. In addition, the targets achieved by Ecuador regarding the SDGs have, in several cases, fallen below the levels recorded the previous year. Ultimately, the study identifies uneven progress across the dimensions of sustainable development, demonstrating that their applicability remains largely insufficient
