Evaluación y dimensionamiento de la repotenciación de la Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales del barrio La Libertad, parroquia San Luis, cantón Riobamba.

Abstract

The repowering and evaluation of the wastewater treatment plant in the La Libertad neighborhood, San Luis de Riobamba, addresses knowledge of hydraulics, geography and mainly water technologies, to address the problem of effective purification for discharge into the Guano River. The objective of the research was to evaluate and dimension the repowering of the Wastewater Treatment Plant of La Libertad neighborhood, San Luis parish, Riobamba canton. As a theoretical and methodological basis, principles of treatment plant design based on specialized literature were used, in addition to national and international standards on water quality, biological processes and advanced treatment technologies. The work was carried out through a comprehensive technical evaluation that included the diagnosis of current conditions, the characterization of wastewater through the analysis of physicochemical and microbiological parameters, and the calculation and sizing of new operating units. As main results, it was determined that the current discharge parameters exceed the permitted values, it is highlighted that the redesign based on the use of the topographic profile and the implementation of proven technologies at national and international level, make the repowering of the plant technically feasible and economically sustainable, which would contribute significantly to environmental protection and public health in the area of influence.
