Perfiles de personalidad y su relación con las habilidades sociales en el entorno universitario

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the personality profiles and their relationship with the social skills of university students between 18 and 25 years of age in the Metropolitan District of Quito during the period 2025. The research work is quantitative, with a nonexperimental, descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and correlational design. A sample of 50 university students was considered. The following instruments were implemented: Informed Consent, Sociodemographic Form, 16PF Personality Questionnaire in Excel (Cattell et al., 2001), Social Skills Scale - EHS (Gismero, 2010). A Microsoft Excel database was used to enter the results obtained from the tests. Finally, Jamovi statistical software was used to obtain correlation data with statistical graphs and with the chi-square test to verify the hypothesis (Badiella et al., 2021). In the research work, the global dimensions of personality were correlated with the global dimension of social skills, where the chi-square hypothesis test was used, resulting in a non-significant hypothesis, since there is an α > 0.05 in each correlation. The results of the correlation are as follows: the extraversion dimension with a p-value of 0.47, the anxiety dimension with a p-value of 0.23, the hardiness dimension with a p-value of 0.27, the independence dimension with a p-value of 0.39 and the self-control dimension with a pvalue of 0.64.
