Evaluación del estrés laboral y bienestar psicológico en profesionales veterinarios, en el sector San José del Condado en Quito, 2024

Abstract

While it is well-known that veterinarians face various negative factors in their daily work, which can lead to mental and emotional strain and eventually physical harm, this study explores two main aspects: the impact of workplace stress on psychological well-being. Using a quantitative design to minimize researcher influence and ensure more objective and accurate data collection, the initial hypothesis proposed that higher work-related stress would correlate with lower psychological well-being. Two scales were used for measurement: the Job Stress test and Ryff's Psychological Well-being test. The study involved a non-probabilistic sample of 39 veterinarians from different specialties working in the San José del Condado neighborhood in Quito. The results of this sample indicated that, contrary to initial expectations, there was no significant relationship between job stress and the overall psychological well-being of the surveyed sample. However, an important finding was the identification of significant correlations between the first variable of the study and several specific sub-dimensions of the second variable. This suggests that although the relationship between these two variables is not as initially expected, the effects of workplace stress may differentially impact various aspects of psychological well-being. Therefore, it was concluded that there is no significant correlation between the two main variables.
