Yuyay Un podcast sobre las leyendas urbanas y rurales del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito

Abstract

Urban and rural legends contain a cultural and traditional contribution to the population of Quito. However, with the passage of time and the new generations, there has been a change in the interest in knowing these legends, which has generated that young people are only familiar with the more traditional legends, leaving aside other captivating stories that are not very widespread but that connect with the Quiteño culture. Thus, this research work proposes the creation and development of a series of adaptations in the form of a podcast, based on various compilations of urban and rural legends of Quito that have not been heard in recent years. The methodology used in this academic article was the qualitative and narrative-oriented approach, which was based on the research and analysis of books containing legends of Quito. This allowed us to determine the scope of the study and to obtain the legends and elaborate the scripts. The product called "Yuyay" fulfills the function of being an educational-communicative tool that recovers legends forgotten in time. It consists of a series of ten episodes with a duration of four to eight minutes. The legends were recorded and edited with sound, voices and pauses, to finally have the final product in the form of a podcast. It is important to emphasize that in the XIX century people had a great faith and devotion, so the selected narratives allow to understand the close bond that existed between the Catholic Church and the Quiteño society
