Estudio y diseño de tanques de almacenamiento, línea de conducción, planta de tratamiento y redes de distribución para el sistema de abastecimiento de agua potable en el barrio La Pradera, parroquia El Chaupi, del cantón Mejía

Abstract

The purpose of the project is to improve the living conditions of the current and future population of La Pradera neighborhood by meeting their daily needs for potable water. This neighborhood, located 3 km south of the city of Machachi, has approximately 107 inhabitants and is situated along the former Machachi-Latacunga road at an altitude of 3070 masl. The project was carried out in two phases. During the first phase, a fieldwork was conducted, including inspecting the influence area, defining the project area, investigating the 3 filtering galleries in the study sector, performing a topographic survey of the location where the potable water supply system will be implemented, and conducting socio-economic surveys of the residents in the area. In the second phase, the storage tank, the transmission line, the treatment plant, and the distribution networks for the potable water supply system were designed. The simulation of the behavior of the potable water network was performed using the Epanet 2.0 program in Spanish, which is a freely available software accessible on the internet. It is important to mention that the design of the potable water supply system was carried out in compliance with the INEN norms of the Ecuadorian Building Code for the Design of Sanitary Installations to ensure the quality and efficiency of the project..
