Abstract

In the year of 2016 the Ecuadorian government subscribed to the Protocol Accession to the Multipart Trade Agreement with the European Union, the same one that became valid in January 2017, with the purpose of looking new markets and strengthen the national production. This article shows a critical analysis of the impact that this agreement has in the dairy production sector. A study was conducted through surveys to 38 small and micro business producers, in which they express concern and disconfort because of the situation in which milk production and its derivatives currently live, they also mentioned suffering an increase in sales costs, forcing to lower the price of the final products not to decrease sales. Although Ecuador has already adhered to the multipart trade agreement for two years in search of promoting competitiveness of the productive sector to participate in the international trade, this does not favor small producers, its policies have benefited large corporations that have been enriched at the cost of opression, generating higher levels of inequality and poverty.
