The focus of this technical project focuses on the field of experimental technical research, where a study and analysis of the surface roughness in M238 steel will be developed with the application of a concave milling to the surface of the material arranged in 9 specimens to 27 tests, allowing to experiment different methodologies to determine the parameters that can be used to optimize the surface quality of the process. Initially, with the CAD / CAM software, the design and development of the machining simulations of the specimens is carried out with three types of strategies that are adopted as appropriate to analyze the surface quality in concave milling for an M238 martensitic steel, these strategies are zigzag, concentric zigzag and radial zigzag; Once established, the simulation is carried out prior to machining since they help to identify any error in the machining avoiding stoppages in the machining process, thus gaining the obtaining of the G codes generated in CAM software in such a way that milling is obtained corresponding with the respective strategies. Next, with the selected parameters, tools, machinery and instruments, the machining operations for the study of the machining proposed in the present project are started. After having machined with the first strategy, the roughness is measured, performing this to each of the three different strategies applied, thus obtaining the data for the realization of the Taguchi Method, where an adequate roughness value determined by the strategy is obtained Radial Zigzag, Cutting speed of 110 m / min and an advance of 0.05 mm / z, these being the optimal parameters involved in obtaining a roughness suitable for the machining of this technical project. With the analysis of the ANOVA variance, it is determined that the factor with the highest concave surface finish is the strategy with 86,175%. Then, with the help of the statistical software, 2D and 3D graphics are obtained that help establish a statistical regression equation that predicted a roughness Ra of 1,355 [μm], which is validated with the roughness obtained as a result of the final machining with the Optimum parameters Ra of 1.311 [μm] this with an error of 3.3%. Finally, with the theoretical calculation of the optimum roughness and its respective confidence interval equal to 〖Ra〗 _ (OPTIMAL) = 1.036 ± 0.142 [μm] it allows to find a confidence interval that validates the study carried out in this technical project. This study shows the best parameters when performing a concave machining process for M238 steel, focusing on the quality of the surface finish that is a primary factor in the industry for plastic molds.spa
