Comparación de sistemas de alcantarillado en entornos urbanos utilizando el diseño convencional y aplicación de EPA - SWMM

Abstract

The study evaluates the sewer system of the Eloy Alfaro Cooperative by comparing conventional design with EPA-SWMM modeling, showing that the latter better represents the real dynamics of rainfall and flow. Although the traditional method complies with Ecuadorian regulations, it may be undersized during extreme events. It is concluded that computational modeling allows the design of more efficient, reliable, and sustainable urban drainage systems.
