Abstract

Alcohol consumption among young people is a public health challenge that affects their development. This study analyzes its prevalence among first- and second-year high school students at Unidad Educativa 26 de Febrero in Paute (2024-2025). The AUDIT assessment was applied to 150 students to identify influencing factors. Although most do not drink regularly, some engage in risky behaviors. Variables such as gender, family dynamics, and romantic relationships influence these habits. Having a partner may reduce problematic consumption by fostering responsibility. The study highlights the need to strengthen alcohol prevention and education at school and home, promoting communication and access to clear information.
