Diseño de una rampa de frenado para la Avenida Simón Bolívar, tramo intercambiador Morán Valverde – Puengasí, cantón Quito, provincia de Pichincha

Abstract

Simon Bolivar Avenue is one of the most important roads in the province of Pichincha, since it interconnects the entire city of Quito, from the south to the north, and also provides access to the valleys, for this reason the volume of traffic on this fundamental road artery is considerable and the occurrence of traffic accidents is high. The problem is focused on those accidents whose main cause is due to loss of control of the vehicle due to mechanical failure of the vehicle's braking system. The section under study is one of the most conflictive points with the highest rate of vehicular accidents. This technical project presents the analysis to determine the need, ideal location, and basic parameters of the geometric design of the emergency braking ramp, based on international regulations and national research on the subject. With which it is sought that there is a safety structure that facilitates the exit from the road of vehicles that present failure in the braking system to a safe place that has several components that facilitate the decrease of speed until the vehicle is completely stopped, without compromising the safety of the occupants of the vehicle or the users who travel on the road. The traffic study was conducted to determine the TPDAf that circulates through the section and classifying the road according to this, on the other hand, the bibliographic study of the different standards was conducted, using the analytical method to comply with all the parameters and to be a viable design. The topographic survey was used to classify the terrain according to its orography in the site where the implementation of the braking ramp was determined.
