Abstract

This study, titled "From Beauty to Death, the Sad Reality of the Daule River," focuses on the pollution of the Daule River in the Daule canton, Guayas province, and its socio-economic impact on local residents. Using the action research method and qualitative techniques such as life stories and in-depth interviews, pollution levels are documented, and a photographic record of the current state of the river is created. The images reveal the magnitude of pollution, emphasizing its impact on the river ecosystem and underscoring the seriousness of the problem. The research confirms that pollution will persist, significantly affecting water quality, biodiversity, and river health. The direct impact on the lives of residents is evident, including reduced fishing, increased costs of drinking water, and health consequences. This project not only successfully completes the visual record of the river but also serves as a tool for raising awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources. The obtained images serve as a call to action, reminding us of the urgency to address pollution and protect the historical, environmental, and cultural richness of the Daule River for future generations.
