Percepciones y actitudes frente al aborto en estudiantes de universidades de Quito en el periodo 2022-2023

Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the perceptions and attitudes towards abortion among university students in Quito, considering the positive or negative impact of abortion in Ecuador and its progress in recent years. The research has been developed with a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative), with non-experimental designs. For data collection in relation to the quantitative approach a sample of 100 university students was used and for the qualitative approach a sample of 6 students was used. The instruments used for this work were the questionnaire of attitudes towards induced abortion consisting of 23 questions and the narrative productions. The quantitative results showed that the majority of the participating population had positive attitudes towards abortion and the qualitative results showed that the collaborators had a good acceptance of abortion, given that they affirmed that this decision depends on the pregnant woman. This concluding that the attitudes and perceptions of the university students are positive and acceptable towards abortion and that there should be more promotion of awareness about the decriminalization of abortion in Ecuador.
