This study presents the results of a Diagnosis of
Disabilities in the province of Azuay, with the
purpose of strengthening further research in the
Area of Inclusive Technologies. The evaluated
data are a response to a classification of diverse
disabilities based on the statements of Manuela
Espejo mission, which has been categorized by
age, sex and geographical location in the cities of
the province of Azuay. The Salesian Polytechnic
University has actively worked on the inclusion of
children with disabilities in education; therefore,
this study pretends to better justify its action by
monitoring and setting up a guide for the development
of current and future prototypes, fulfilling
the real and coherent necessities with a broader
view of disabilities, detected in the province of
Azuay.

This study discloses the technological and scientific
development of engineering materials used by
small and medium enterprises (PYMES) in the
city of Cuenca related to the level of technological
innovation that occur. It provides information
about the variety of engineering materials that are
processed, their technological level and the most
common problems faced in the production process.
Shows the direction of research and technological
innovation in the field of applied engineering materials
for industry. This will involve production
managers survey of a sample of local businesses
that belong to the CAPIA and the Association of
Industries of Cuenca.
Finally, raised lines of action to promote the development
of materials science in industry Cuenca
through joint work between the company and higher
education centers.

This paper presents the results of the design and
implementation of a Geographic Information System
to support decision-making in the Bienestar
Estudiantil Department of the Universidad Politécnica
Salesiana, it has developed a tool that
facilitates the analysis of the socioeconomic status
of the student population from the socio-economic
data tab. It was possible to integrate students
alphanumeric data recorded in the survey with
the geographic location of residence, which can
generate maps that locate statistical variables into
quintiles, so they can have a detail of how they are
distributed in different areas in Cuenca city.

The prototype's main objective is to help people
with learning of hearing loss, by designing and
building a robotic hand capable of performing the
signs of finger spelling and interact with a person
by recognizing signals captured by a webcam
which will be processed in real time by means of
the use of Labview 2009 - National Instruments
vision development plataform.
The robotic hand is composed by 17 actuators to
achieve the grades movements and able to make a
sign. Its applications are countless since the prototype
is developed modularly so each partcan be
used in other systems such as image recognition,
servo control, mechanical systems and the prototype
itself can be used in: prostheses development
of prostheses, objeect manipulation through sensorial
gloves handling, the study of the biometrical
signals of the hand and so on.

Clock and data recovery CDR is an important
subsystem of every communication device since
the receiver must recover the exact transmitter’s
clock information usually coded into the incoming
stream. Some analogue techniques for CDR have
been developed based on PLL theory employing
an external VCO. However, sometimes external
components could be cumbersome when interfacing
them with the digital core (FPGA, DSP) already
present in the device. Thus, the digital core
is also used to carry out the timing recovery task
by all-digital techniques i.e. without an external
VCO. This article will describe an all digital timing
recovery subsystem using digital techniques
implemented on a FPGA.

This raises the need to model the dynamic behavior
of a pH measurement system, for which it
could be considered for obtaining the physical parameters
mathematical formula or by identifying
a mathematical model.
It starts with data obtained experimentally from a
simulator, they are generated according to a PRBS
signal, the information input and output of the simulator
will be used for model identification.
The experimental model identification is performed
using the three parametric models providing
Matlab functions, these are: OE, ARMAX and
ARX.
Finally, cross-validation is performed for each of
the models and comparative analysis of the results
for their selection of the mathematical model that
describes the dynamic behavior of the system.
This paper does not reach the controller calculation
process; simply remains in the collection and
model validation.

This paper presents a prototype that was developed
to observe and control level and flow variables
with a Human Machine Interface (HMI). It
is mainly composed of a model that was designed
to contain the needed items, and software for control
and visualization. The objective of the project
is finding appropriate control loops for the effective
control of two variables that are widely used by
industries, level and flow, with devices that could
be easily scaled for industrial operation.

This article is based on a data compilation at the
Canton Cuenca Ecuador and in regard to generation
and use of electricity and the use of fossil
fuels. All collected data are analyzed, and prioritized
discriminate to characterize the use of energy
based on the national reality and defining the
particular reality of the Canton. Many of the data
is projected forward to establish what will be the
energetic condition of Cuenca in later years and
analyzed to establish actions to strengthen the
good life, care for the environment and the efficient
use of energy.
The points presented the end of the investigation
contributed significantly to shaping the action in
research, development and innovation undertaken
by the Salesian Polytechnic University in the field
of energy through the CIAME (Centre for Research
in Automation, Materials and Energy).
