Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the Santillana social science textbook and its use by the teacher in the area of basic education for fourth year children to determine the class distribution in terms of methodology, content and activities, observing how the teacher engages the text. To make all this possible, a case analysis was carried out, an observation was made to the teacher through a field diary, a qualitative and quantitative structured interview, who participated in the survey were ten parents, in order to interpret their response to the influence of the text and the pedagogical praxis of the teacher before the students. In such a way that the expected results demonstrated a constant attachment to the school text involving almost half of teaching through this resource, which in itself is not bad for those who know how to interpret and break down certain characteristics and messages of the text that can be debated in the face of criticism. pedagogical constructive that will serve to have a balance between the knowledge of the text and the structured knowledge of the teacher.
