Abstract

This paper is about the role of language and literature school texts in the design and development of the national curriculum; at the Mercedaria Patria Fiscomisional School, with the sixth year students of basic, educational institution located in the southern sector of the Metropolitan District of Quito. By observing the school structure of the school text used in the institution of Editorial Santillana, it was observed that it has a different structure from the school text of the Ministry of Education; however, it adheres to the ministerial guidelines, it has activities of the same didactic style that the official text presents; It was observed that in the text it proposes complementary activities that are not taken into account to control learning activities, in this way it is determined what role of the school text has the greatest presence in the classroom in relation to institutional curricular design. The research is detailed with the description of the problem, then the theoretical foundation that describes the role of the school text, the curricular design and the learning process is structured, the pedagogical aspects that characterize the school text in the curriculum scheme are detailed. The study describes the methodological scheme of the investigation, in which the process of gathering information and the process applied in the analysis and presentation of results are presented. It also presents the analysis of results and presentation of the findings, of which the conclusions reached in the investigation are neglected.
