Ausentismo laboral y salud: estudio de su importancia en el teletrabajo

Abstract

Se muestra la evidencia empírica encontrada sobre la asociación de la salud con el ausentismo laboral en trabajadores de manufactura de alimentos en la Ciudad de México mediante un estudio de tipo descriptivo y correlacional. El objetivo de esta investigación consistió en cuestionar el paradigma xistente de que un trabajador se ausenta por enfermedad debido a una pérdida de salud (física) y evaluar la asociación que las ausencias por causa distinta a enfermedad (ej. ausencias injustificadas) guardan con el nivel de salud. Los resultados mostraron que la salud mental se asoció al ausentismo laboral. Adicionalmente se analizó la forma en que el fenómeno puede estarse manifestando en el teletrabajo, donde es probable que la salud mental juegue un rol central en la productividad. // The empirical evidence found is shown on the association of health with labor absenteeism in food manufacturing workers in Mexico City by a descriptive and correlational study. The objective of this research was to question the existing paradigm that a worker is absent by illness due to loss of health (physical) and to evaluate the association that absences for other reasons different to illness (for example: unexcused absences) keep with the level of health. The results showed that mental health was associated with labor absenteeism. In addition, the way the phenomenon may be manifesting in telecommuting was analized, where it is likely that mental health plays a central role in productivity.
